Hello, my name is Taryn.

I am 24 years old.

I’ve never been married.

And I have a five year old daughter.

Being a parent is hard, especially when you are doing it alone.

I don’t know why but after the first year

I expected the nights when

She would keep me up until the wee hours

Of the morning to stop.

They haven’t.

When she was young she let me dress her up in these

White, frothy outfits but as she gets older, stronger,

Her clothes get darker.

Sugar and syrup, and “my…. The girl’s growing up!”

Is what my little girl is made of, even dressed all in black.

She drives me crazy sometimes;

Giving me these horrendous headaches,

All because I am a few minutes late picking her up,

That make me want to kick her to the curb.

Still, she gives me a reason to get up in the morning.

So I’ll continue to work my butt off

To pay for the shops she likes to frequent.

And I’ll nurture her until she’s grown into a petite,

Yet full-bodied, character independent of me.

I’ve brought her with me today.
